Playing with Perception
THE PARTY The opening night of Daniel Arsham’s first solo show in L.A., the fall, the ball, the wall exhibition of canvases and melting wall installations, held at OHWOW gallery THE PLAYERS Al Moran, Frankie Rayder, Kaz Oshiro, Bert Rodriguez, Dan Keyes THE HIGHLIGHTS Mid-evening, Jonah Bokaer, a former Merce Cunningham dancer and longtime Arsham collaborator, began a short performance piece in front of Arsham’s “Hiding Figure” sculpture. The artwork itself looked like a sheet of white, drywall-like fabric had been stretched over a human figure. Bokaer even put his face up to the sculpture’s covered head as if he were staring into its eyes—what every guest in the room wanted to do, but didn’t dare. Photos courtesy of Vince Bucci Photography
