The Insider's Guide to Awards-Season Style

These star stylists are responsible for some of the most well-documented A-lister looks. Here, they reveal what to expect on this year’s red-carpet circuit. Winner, take all.

Emily Current and Meritt Elliott

The Stylists Emily Current and Meritt Elliott
Star Clients Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Mandy Moore and Nikki Reed
Fashion Forecast Expect surprising color combos, like a pink dress with an orange clutch or a yellow gown with punchy red lips. “We’re even mixing metallics, like bronze accessories with a pewter dress.”
Secret Weapon Perfume rollers slipped inside tiny clutches “help clients refresh throughout events so they feel confident and alluring all day and night,” says the duo.

The Stylist Joey Tierney
Star Clients Julie Benz, Seth Green, Ashley Madekwe and Jamie Pressly
Fashion Forecast Pairing ball skirts and crop tops is a fashion “do” for Tierney. She explains, “This was a huge spring runway trend bound to make its way to the red carpet.” Keep the look chic and modern by “baring some arm.”
Secret Weapon To help keep garments strategically in place, “I rely on Topstick, always!”

The Stylist Jessica Paster
Star Clients Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt and Sandra Bullock
Fashion Forecast Appliqués, jewel-toned shades (ruby, emerald, topaz and amethyst) and strong-but-feminine silhouettes are on Paster’s radar. “And I love, love statement accessories, so my girls will definitely be wearing bold necklaces on the red carpet,” she adds.
Secret Weapon Paster relies on Spanx Mid Thigh Shapewear that “tucks you in without flattening your butt!”

The Stylist Johnny Wujek
Star Clients Katy Perry and Kate Mara
Fashion Forecast Look out for white-hot gowns. “But they have to be sexy, edgy and body-con so you don’t make the mistake of looking ‘wedding,’” says Wujek. “Think cutouts, slits and peekaboo vibes. If you think a bride would look appropriate wearing it, it’s not the right look.”
Secret Weapon Nude undergarments (anything else, even white, will show up) and a digital camera are red-carpet must-haves. “Take a picture before walking out the door to make sure nothing shows,” says Wujek, “especially if you’re going to be photographed.”

The Stylist Estee Stanley
Star Clients Lea Michele, Jessica Biel and Mandy Moore
Fashion Forecast Stanley loves ’60s-inspired hues like peaches, nudes and muted greens, plus beadwork and textured embellishments. “Sheer lace will also let women show off their curves,” she adds.
Secret Weapon “Altoids for all the interviews,” says Stanley, “and Victoria’s Secret Fabulous Bra, which creates shape if you’re not well-endowed”
