THE PARTY More than 500 guests walked into the Viceroy Hotel for the annual Grand Cochon tasting event featuring 10 chefs from 10 cities competing for one crown. Cochon555 is the epic finale to the 10-city touring competition that finishes with the grand crowning of the King or Queen of pork for a nose-to-tail culinary event. THE GUESTS Andrew Zimmern, Tyler Florence, Laura Werlin, Chef Mike Isabella, Chef Danny Lee, Chef Hooni Kim, Cristiano Creminelli, Chef Will Nolan, Ellen Bennett and Peter Jacobsen. HIGHLIGHTS The smell of pork belly hitting the grill paired with potato mousseline and bacon dashi had the taste buds perfectly primed for guests to indulge in the culinary feast. The competing chefs prepared more than 1,200 pounds of responsibly-raised heritage pork to a crowd of 400 pork-loving epicureans and 20 celebrity chefs. Guests chose the winner by voting on the favorite bite of the day. In addition to the competition plates, Grand Cochon also featured five winemakers, a Ramen Bar with Wines of Germany, a grand selection of artisan cheeses, oysters and a Surf & Turf Tartare Bar with Creekstone.
