Get to know 21-year-old sponsored pro surfer and Water Mill resident Brian Pollak

Favorite wave?
Here at home on Long Island. Usually not many people are out, and everyone’s friendly.

Top Hamptons beach?
The Cut in Water Mill, where Mecox Bay cuts through the beach into the ocean. It’s close to my house, so I can visit it frequently with my truck or by foot. I learned to surf there when I was 7.

Surfing tip?
Have control and experience before just charging out to a break, and once you do that, enjoy every minute of your session, as it could be your last.

Life mantra?
‘Love thy neighbor and love thy stranger.’

Best beach accessory?
My truck! Here in the Hamptons we are lucky to be able to use our trucks on the beach—as long as we follow the rules, we get a lot of freedom.

Favorite Hamptons eats?
I like to eat at delis and bagel shops. My favorites are Ted’s in Southampton and Goldberg’s Bagels in East Hampton.

Song you have on repeat?
The French Montana remix of “Loyal” by Chris Brown

Favorite designers?
LV, Hermès, Dolce...

One thing we don’t know about you?
Those aren’t my favorite designers; I just heard them in a song...

Looking forward to in the next five years?
Spending more time on the beach with Quincy and her dogs!
