Bridal Sign Up

Laura McBride & Mason Parkinson

September 8, 2012 | Sunstone Winery, Santa Ynez

“We loved the openness of Santa Ynez, with all the grapevines and fruit trees,” says the bride, who paired her Jenny Packham gown with Jimmy Choo heels.

Kelly Kaufman Designs created the flower arrangements.

Planner Joy Proctor of Joy de Vivre coordinated and designed the event.

McBride donned a jeweled Jenny Packham headpiece.

Lazaro Press & Design supplied the paper goods.

The bride envisioned a “vintage but not rustic” look.

The Couple
The third time was a charm for these high school sweethearts.  After asking twice for a date, Parkinson finally got a “yes” from McBride—then another “yes to the dress” when he proposed, 14 years later.

The Venue
The Danish town of Solvang, which reminded the bride of her small Swedish hometown in California, hosted the nuptials. Vows were exchanged at historic Mission Santa Inés, while Sunstone Winery, just a few miles outside of town, accommodated continued celebrations. The wedding was one of the first at the property.

The Details
Inspired by her “romantic with a touch of vintage” gown, McBride, an interior designer, chose an understated, feminine palette that accentuated the villa’s natural beauty.

The Party
Duo Catering & Events served a menu of gourmet comfort food. The deep-fried poached eggs that topped the salad scored big points with the bride (and multiple guests). As the sun set, friends and family danced and then moved inside for the DJ-fueled afterparty.
