Bridal Sign Up

Nancy Rothman & Lou Lavigne

The bride wore Oscar de la Renta from the N.Y. boutique, and the groom wore Burberry.

A lavish cocktail hour with a raw bar, appetizers and signature drinks preceded dinner, followed by a pie extravaganza, all catered by Jessica Lasky of Oakland.

“I looked at every venue in San Francisco,” Rothman laughs. “I treated it like buying a house.”

Concrete vessels held white tulips, sweet peas, lilies of the valley and succulents.

A metal gate holding the leather escort cards was an installation in itself.

Rothman, who has experience staging houses, wanted the reception aesthetic to be modern, sophisticated and fun.

The Couple
Lou Lavigne, the former CFO of Genentech, married his friend and former longtime real estate agent, Nancy Rothman. The marriage is Rothman’s first and Lavigne’s second; his first wife passed away following a long illness.

The Venue
“It was a simple backdrop for the Buddhist-California-Jewish wedding,” Rothman says of Laurent Studio in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill.

The Details
Organic and sculptural design elements by Atelier Joya blended seamlessly with the gallery art. “They have impeccable taste,” planner Shannon Leahy says of the couple.

The Party
A children’s choir singing a joyful African tune a cappella set the celebratory tone, as 22 of the bride’s girlfriends danced down the aisle to commence the ceremony. The lively L.A.-based dance band Side Effect headlined the raging reception.
