Lauren Smylie & Patrick Gage

December 31, 2013 | Auditorium Ballroom, Roosevelt University

Patrick and Lauren had two reasons to celebrate on their big day, as it coincided with the new year, so they partied fittingly with sparklers, metallic and jewel-tone accents, and plenty of Champagne.

The cake by Sugar Fixé Pâtisserie had chocolate and red velvet tiers.

Guests dined on fare by Entertaining Company in Roosevelt University’s stately Auditorium Ballroom.

Lauren carried a bouquet of blush garden roses with white peonies, ranunculus and anemones.

Lauren stunned in a fitted lace Alvina Valenta dress from Bella Bianca and earrings from Muse in Oak Park.

Hydrangeas, garden roses and spray roses sat atop gold sequin runners for a festive look.

The Couple
Lauren and Patrick met in 2008 in a silly fashion—literally—at a costume party. Despite their goofy outfits, they hit it off, and the rest is history.

The Details
For the couple’s New Year’s Eve nuptials, Tiffany Munster of Soirée Weddings & Events teamed up with HMR Designs to infuse the space with rich colors and fun metallic touches, like oversize gold branches and a silver vinyl dance floor.

The Party
The countdown to midnight included passed Champagne, confetti cannons and an unobstructed view of the Navy Pier fireworks.
