Bridal Sign Up

Elizabeth Shelby & Eric Hurt

The blushing bride had a piece of her late father’s shirt, embroidered with the wedding date, sewn into her dress as her something blue.

Dream Cakes created the four-tier vanilla confection with lemon filling and “spooned” buttercream icing. As a complement to the bride’s bouquet, pink peonies graced each layer. The couple also served red velvet cake.

Flora Bella Designs had free rein to fill the couple’s collected vintage jars and other vessels with any bright, freshly cut flowers.

Wooden signs mark the spot for the guests of honor, who dined on fajitas and Mexican fare from family favorite Del Pueblo.

Why We Love It
For the significant details, from the bride’s heirloom ring to the burlap-wrapped banana bread favors and groomsmen-built lemonade stand. These high school sweethearts had an outdoor wedding that “celebrated their story.”

The Venue
“We didn’t need to do much to make it beautiful,” Shelby says of Crystal Springs in Magnolia. “We were among the beautiful Texas piney woods!” With help from her mother, who walked her down the aisle, the couple’s “traditional elegance” theme came to life.

The Details
After a night of dancing to Drywater Band, the couple hopped into the bride’s late father’s 1969 Camaro as a tribute to him.
