Ring in the New Year

Is it just us, or does it seem like yesterday we were counting down the seconds to 2013? Well, time does fly when you’re having fun, and now it’s once again time to put on your party clothes, pop some Champagne and ring in the new year. Here are five hot spots planning can’t-miss parties that will have you ushering in 2014 in style.

One of the Loop’s newest dining destinations, Vapiano is doing New Year’s right with an all-you-can-eat (and drink!) package ($99 per person) from 7PM-1AM. Graze the Italian eatery’s expansive menu of delicious pizzas and pastas, and enjoy a complimentary bottle of prosecco with every four tickets purchased together. Have dinner plans elsewhere? Swing by Vapiano afterward for unlimited drinks from 9PM-1AM for $79. As they say in Italy, Buon Anno! Vapiano, 44 S. Wabash Ave., 312.384.1960,

Shaw’s Crab House
Bedazzled balloons, twinkling lights and yards of holiday ribbons will welcome guests to this River North institution, which is accepting reservations for the Oyster Bar from 5PM to midnight. Expect a rocking set from The Fabulous Fish Heads and a midnight Champagne toast with complimentary oysters. Meanwhile, the main dining room (accepting reservations from 4:30-10:30PM) will be serving the a la carte menu and divine specials, including Dover sole, Nantucket Cape scallops and Alaskan red king crab. Shaw’s Crab House, 21 E. Hubbard St., 312.527.2722,

The Signature Room
Celebrate among the stars at The Signature Room. The sky-high restaurant is offering both an early evening three-course dinner ($105) or a later seating six-course feast ($225, ages 21 and over only). Night owls will also get to enjoy a midnight balloon drop and dancing to the NEO Orchestra. One story up, The Signature Lounge will be rocking with the sounds of Hey Jimmy! from 9PM-1AM ($25 cover charge after 6PM includes one complimentary drink). Reservations are required for dining. The Signature Room, 875 N. Michigan Ave., 312.787.959,

Tortoise Club
Toast the new year in the vintage-cool confines of Tortoise Club. Dinner by chef Gray McNally will feature old favorites (sautéed Skuna Bay salmon and pheasant pie come to mind) and must-try specials like lobster thermidor and Grade A5 Miyazake beef striploin. A live jazz band will have guest dancing to Rat Pack-style tunes all night, while “cigarette girls” will be snapping Polaroid’s and handing out party favors. Our favorite party perk? The artist who painted the club’s portraits of Chicago characters will be on hand to sketch complimentary caricatures. Reservations highly recommended for dinner. Tortoise Club, 350 N. State St., 312.755.1700,

Crystal Gardens
Head Navy Pier’s Crystal Gardens for one of the city’s largest NYE celebrations, which boasts a red carpet, hors d’oeuvres, more than 20 bars (we’ll drink to that!) and a midnight Champagne toast. In addition to beats from DJs Jordan V and J-Donn, guests will also have a front-row seat for the pier’s midnight fireworks show. You won’t want to bring in the 2014 any other way. 9PM-2AM. General admission tickets from $115; VIP tickets $150. Crystal Garden, 700 E. Grand Ave., 312.595.5436,
