The Talented Mr. Wahlberg

Currently in town filming Transformers 4, actor/producer Mark Wahlberg proves you can have it all.
Mark Wahlberg must have a secret identical twin, or was a professional juggler with the circus in a former life. He’s a blockbuster leading actor and a respected producer (think HBO’s Entourage and Boardwalk Empire), he recently launched a much-hyped performance water called Aquahydrate, and he’s a commited husband to model Rhea Durham and father to their four children. “I can’t wait to take my kids to the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum,” says Wahlberg of his family plans while spending the summer in Chicago filming Transformers 4. “I’m also excited to try the amazing restaurants.”
In the fourth installment of the mega sci-fi action hit—the fourth highest-grossing film series—Wahlberg joins the cast (sans Shia LaBeouf) in the lead role of Flynn Vincent. “I didn’t even know what the role was when [director] Michael Bay approached me, but we had such a great time working on our last movie, Pain and Gain, together, I immediately signed on,” says Wahlberg. “I aspire to direct one day and am learning a lot from him. He’s very collaborative and has a great visual style. He knows exactly what he wants and how to shoot it.”
As for preparing to battle Decepticons? “I did lots of cardio and weight training; it’s my basic regimen,” says Wahlberg. “I took a few months off at the end of last year, so it was challenging to get back into the gym.” With those pecs and abs? Here’s hoping there’s a scene where Wahlberg takes his shirt off.
