You’ve put in your time on the treadmill and declined that second glass of wine—now you deserve a reward for being on your best behavior in the new year. No matter who you are and what you are looking for, 2012 has brought you a hot spot where you can grab a cocktail, listen to music, and hit the dance floor until late in the evening. Don’t worry, the gym will still be there in the morning.

Mova Lounge
This swank new lounge, just a few blocks off U Street, has a sexy Miami-esque vibe with flashing lights, au currant cocktails and a sleek rooftop bar perfect for mingling. The LGBT bar’s other locale is in South Beach and Mova promises to bring Miami’s heat to the District with a hip dance floor manned by a globetrotting set of DJs. 2204 14th St. NW, movalounge.com

Irish Whiskey
Cozy up in one of the plaid banquettes or settle in for a pint at the rustic bar in this new Dupont pub. The three-story space, formerly Porter’s, was designed by Maggie O’Neill (of Lincoln fame) and features dark wood accents and exposed brick walls. While premium whiskey is certainly on offer—the owners even shipped in an ice machine from Ireland that creates the perfect cubes for each drink—the first Irish gastropub in the District puts up a menu with traditional dishes like shepherd’s pie and fish and chips. Expect a modern twist, as well, with innovative creations like corned beef and cabbage spring rolls. 1207 19th St. NW, 202.463.3010, irishwhiskeydc.com

The Hamilton
It’s 37,000 square feet, two levels, open 24 hours and just down the block from the White House. The Penn Quarter’s newest nightlife addition from the guys at Clyde’s Restaurant Group is like nothing DC has seen. Those in search of an elegant meal can enjoy dishes ranging from charcuterie to sushi to fresh Maine lobster rolls in one of the three dining rooms, while those hoping for nightlife can head down to the basement level amphitheatre, which features two bars and live music most nights. The creative cocktails here have an emphasis on gin and bourbon, but The Hamilton’s most exciting drink list is its sake, perfect for accompanying the sushi from its raw bar. Come in Jan. 19 for the grand opening celebration featuring Mavis Staples at 8PM. 600 14th St. NW, 202.787.1000, thehamiltondc.com
