November 5, 2011 | Backstreet Cafe

Aurora and Derek exchanged vows poolside at Hotel Granduca. She carried a bouquet of mini black calla lilies and gray feathers by Special Arrangements and wore curls styled by Meghan Lee from Ceron Hair Studio.

His-and-hers rings from Dickinson by Design Inc.

Custom linens by Elegant Beginnings and chandelier glitz from Plants N’ Petals.

Guests signed The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

Four-tiered fondant peacock cake by Edible Designs by Jessie.

Hand-rolled Hight cigar favors and matches “carved” with A+D.

The Story
The couple met on a blind date set up by Aurora’s best friend. By their second date, Derek bought her a tire to replace the spare she was using. “I truly felt he was my ‘giving tree,’” she says.

The Details
Coincidentally, Derek popped the question under the trees at Backstreet Cafe. The owner of Occasio Productions and her groom wanted a reception in the same spot.

The Party
The bride planned a 1930s-inspired, gray-and-lavender shindig, incorporating the tree theme, Radio London Band and ballroom dancers. Guests also enjoyed Araya Artisan Chocolate and a midnight taco truck.
