A trio of fashion events championed local design, beginning with cocktails and couture at the Omni hotel featuring 22-year-old Jonathan Blake’s fall-winter collection. A-list guests including Carolyn Farb and Lee and Faith Majors looked on as the showcase highlighted nearly 50 looks—coats, gowns and more in materials like silk and suede—and utilized not one but two runways.
And Amir Taghi, just 17, unveiled his second collection at a Champagne reception at his family’s Tanglewood home. The Episcopal High student proudly showed off nearly 20 frocks for fans like fellow H-Town designer David Peck.
Meanwhile, at the fifth annual Product Runway, hosted by the International Interior Design Association at the Bayou Music Center, architects and interior designers crafted couture garments from industry materials like vinyl and carpet. This year’s pieces took their inspiration from animated films’ wonder and whimsy.
