‘Faces’ in the Crowd
Droves of pretty people took a walk on the wild side during a fashionable affair at the clubhouse at the Hermann Park Conservancy, awaiting the announcement of Houston magazine’s 2013 Fresh Faces of Fashion. The coveted class, to be honored at a social-season-opening bash later this month, is comprised of 10 of the city’s coolest young, civically engaged style-setters.
Outside, the Houston staff mingled with hundreds of guests, all dressed chicly in outfits ranging from subtly safari-ready—like cool combos of khaki and white—to funky animal prints. Even the Swift & Co. waitstaff wore safari-savvy hats whose brims were lined with ribbon touting the Fresh Faces of Fashion logo! Nibbles for the night included prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, and tuna tartare on crunchy plantains.
Crisp white wine, sparkling water and refreshing Grey Goose cocktails like the citrusy Serengeti Sunrise kept partygoers cool as they lounged under cabana-like awnings and shared rustic wood tables. (They also gathered around the sleek Mercedes-Benz 2013 GL-Class and E-Class, which seemed to catch everyone’s eye.)
Nearby, Page Parkes models, standing atop platforms surrounded by potted ferns and flanking a verdant ivy-covered wall, showcased haute summer fashions from Tootsies and sultry looks courtesy of Trey Gillen and the crew at Tre Spa. Tootsies’ Mickey Rosmarin was
on hand welcoming guests, including former Fresh Faces Estela Cockrell and Rosemarie Johnson, among many others.
Houston magazine’s Jeff Gremillion and Tootsies’ Christine Goins announced the Faces. This year’s crop, each of whom was presented with a gift from David Brown Florist, includes Kristen Berger, Julie Longoria Chen, Kendall Claire Hanno, Kristina Hornberger, Nicole Katz, Mary-Elizabeth Moore, Laurie Schaub, Jill Ford Schlenker, Jennifer Segal and Brittany Tiner.
