A teenage orchestra serenaded patrons at the 12th annual Virtuosi of Houston gala, which raised $250,000 for music education.
The three-part evening, chaired by Zarine and Meherwan Boyce and held at the Royal Sonesta, began with a cocktail hour in the foyer and silent auction that touted items like a guitar autographed by the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney.
Supporters then filed into the ballroom for dinner. Emcees Katarina Conrad and Houston magazine Publisher Peter Remington kept the crowd entertained before the concert by the Virtuosi Young Artists Chamber Orchestra, led by Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec.
The honorees of the evening—Margaret Alkek Williams, Gina Bhatia, Marie Bosarge, Shirelle Chimenti, Patricia Dewhurst, Carolyn Farb, Kelli Cohen Fein, Jo Furr, Kathy Hubbard, Cora Sue Mach, Annise Parker, Kathi Rovere and Mandy Tinkle—wore commemorative brooches by jeweler Franco Valobra.
