What’s in Store? A Party!
Debut shops pull out the stops, as the scene-savvy preview what’s new. Hip new stores, fabulous fashion and cocktail-culture cool? Sounds like grand-opening celebrations, Houston-style. A throng of tech-savvy young scenesters hit the Galleria’s newly remodeled Sony store. Amid, ahem, apps and cocktails, guests partook in gadget giveaways and marveled at the space’s bright overhaul, which the company dubs a “pilot makeover,” setting the standard for new stores all over the world. Elsewhere, Q Custom Clothier and brother store Rye 51, already having quickly become local favorites for everything from custom tuxedos to hard-to-find denim for dudes, celebrated their grand openings in signature style. Guests flocked to the West Ave boutiques to browse the threads on offer, as bartenders served Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Milagro Tequila. DJ Graham spun tunes. And Westheimer’s newest trendy shop, Fashion Studio, threw open its doors and cranked up the music for its official opening bash. The store touts designer threads for men and women—like Hugo Boss, Denim by Victoria Beckham and G-Star Raw—plus a sleek in-house bar that poured it on thick all night.
