Celebrated and very young designer Enid Almanza, who counts Lady Gaga among his fans, amazed a high-energy crowd of more than 300 when he premiered his futuristic art show and fashion collection Illumination at Gallery M Squared in the Heights.
A cool group of collectors and supporters sipped Space City vodka cocktails while admiring whimsically fantastical mixed-media works, also created by Almanza, on display. Then the lights dimmed; music selected by the artist himself flooded the speakers; and a fashion show began. Male and female models moved through the crowd at intimate eye level, showcasing the head-to-toe designs.
Rumor has it that after seeing Almanza’s full collection, Lady Gaga’s camp contacted the artist to begin collaborating on an outlandish 3-D dress. –Photos by Mike Charlton
