It was a night that will not soon be forgotten for classical music enthusiasts at this year’s Symphony Ball. Guests were treated to a splendid performance of Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Wagner performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and led by Music Director Riccardo Muti and star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. After the performance trolleys whisked the 550 lucky guests to the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park to toast the evening with hors d’oeuvres, a wonderful dinner and dancing late into the evening to the sounds of a different orchestra altogether, Chicago’s Steve Edwards Orchestra. Photography by Julia Skarrat and Todd Rosenberg
