Cheers to Spirited Sirens, a series of educational seminars primarily geared towards women and artisanal imbibing. Jennifer Massolo, founder of Spirited Sirens, debuted the first edition of the tasting event series in March with Beer, Bites & Babes. Now on June 3, she will pay homage to Mexico, with a two-hour sampling session dedicated to tequila and mezcal, the often times smokier cousin spirit of tequila made from the fermented juices of the agave plant. Mexican Maidens will be hosted by Jennifer Massolo, founder of Spirited Sirens, at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink (“Michael’s Genuine”).
With a passion to spread her love and appreciation for tequila and mezcal, Massolo will lead this casual gathering, which is designed to bring women imbibers together. Amid tasting and talking, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the basic history of these spirits; the tequila and mezcal making process; how to incorporate them into making cocktails; the styles and nuances of both and how to pair them with different dishes.
At a cost of $35 per person, guests can expect to sample a welcome cocktail as well as two neat tequilas, two neat mezcals and one closing cocktail. Imbibers will also pair their drinks with bites from Michael’s Genuine, which includes two dishes to share family-style. At the end of the night, maidens will raise their glasses to a sweet ending with a treat from Executive Pastry Chef, Hedy Goldsmith. The tasting will begin at 6:30 p.m., but guests attending are invited to arrive as early as 6:00 p.m. to enjoy a welcome cocktail and bite.
