For the eighth year in a row, First Serve Miami returned to the courts of The Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami. At this year’s tournament, participants could expect recognizable tennis champions, such as Venus Williams, Jack Sock, Nick Kyrgios and Simona Halep to return to the clay paving the way to give 24 young players the opportunity to test their skills in a Round Robin qualifying tournament.
Proceeds from the All-Star Charity Tennis Event will support First Serve Miami, an organization that provides youth the opportunity to learn tennis and valuable life skills by participating in free, affordable programs. The programs establish a pathway from beginner through competitive levels and enrich young lives on and off the tennis courts. The organization continues to develop, organize and conduct education, tennis awareness and skills development programs for youth from economically and socially challenged communities in Miami-Dade County with a commitment to helping participants become well-rounded individuals by focusing on character development, self-esteem and academic achievement.
“We are proud to once again host this exciting all-star event in support of such a meaningful organization,” said Mark Ferland, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami. “It is of the utmost importance for us to be a part of giving back to our local community and there’s no better way to do so than bringing people together on the tennis courts.”
The annual event lasted from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, exhibition matches with the top stars from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a pro Round Robin, a “King of the Court” challenge match pitting the pros against the amateur Round Robin winners, and much more.
