Swim Week took on a whole new meaning this year when a series of freak torrential downpours pounded the city during what’s become Miami’s summer event of choice. But the rain didn’t dampen the spirit or the social excess of the occasion in any way. Once again, Ground Central for all the action was The Raleigh’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, at which brands like Luli Fama, Mara Hoffman, Indah, Poko Pano and a slew of others presented prime examples of what we will be wearing by the shore next summer. ROXY started things off with an official kickoff party where the brand revealed its ROXY PopSurf collection, and models like Hannah Davis, Chrissy Teigen and Leila Thomas reminded other guests they were but mere mortals next to the likes of them.
But MBFWS was hardly the only game in town. Stylist Rachael Russell and her crew took over Soho Beach House for the annual Style Saves Miami fashion show to benefit the charity by the same name. SBH was also the chosen setting for shows by Chloé and Wildfox, at which Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick made an appearance. The Standard got into the act this year with its first-ever series of parties and swimwear-related events that took place at the hotel for four days. And all over town, lovers of the bikini had enough parties, presentations and spectacles to keep them in a beach state of mind for the rest of the year.
