Under the Stars
The Scene A bevy of Arts District heavy-hitters and other local celebs were on hand for the opening of Klyde Warren Park. The Crowd Max Anderson of the Dallas Museum of Art, Nicole Small of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Jeremy Strick of the Nasher Sculpture Center, Mayor Mike Rawlings, Honorary Chair Owen Wilson and Mike Modano all attended, and the cocktail hour was abuzz with congratulations. The park, after all, has been 10 years in the making, recalled John Zogg, managing director of Crescent Real Estate Equities, ever since he and boss John Goff sat atop the Crescent Equities building and contemplated the open space. Why not put a park in it, said Goff—and so, they finally did. The Ceremony Guests soon took seats at Todd Events-designed picnic tables boasting down-home foods. After some touching words by Tracy Kornet, Elaine Agather, lady-in-red Sheila Grant and celeb-come-home Wilson, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and America’s Got Talent’s 12-year-old cutie Jackie Evancho took to the stage for a special performance—what a set of pipes!
