Best in Burgers

Something about this season has us craving burgers. And while we all love the tried-and-true Dallas institutions—Twisted Root, Maple and Motor, we decided to taste our way through some new spots. Here, our new fave burger joints.

Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House: Everything Jeana Johnson and Colleen O’Hare touch turns to gold, and this little neighborhood joint is no exception. With 11 burgers on the menu, there’s something for everyone, from the grass-fed beef “Loretta,” topped with onion-bacon jam, to “The Gobbler,” a turkey burger paired with Asian slaw. We have a soft spot for “The Coop,” a beef burger topped with a sunny-side-up egg.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar: The lunch-line may wind out the door, but it’s well worth the wait. Hand-cut fries and made-from-scratch buns are a perfect addition to an Angus beef burger. For the old-fashioned eater, try “The Classic Burger” with Sassy Sauce, and for the wild at heart, grab a glass of water and bite into the “Llano Poblano” and enjoy the roasted chiles it’s named for.

Liberty Burger: With an ethos like, “Give me Liberty or let me starve,” a restaurant better make sure to live up to the hype. With everything from a classic beef burger with cheese, to a Napa inspired special with wild arugula and green olives on the menu, it does. Don’t miss the Ahi tuna burger.

Stackhouse Burgers: Choose between a single patty, double, or veggie burger, and pile on the add-ons. Cheese, roasted poblano pepper, Canadian bacon, fried egg, grilled mushrooms—this couldn’t be more perfect for those days you’re feeling a little bit particular about your order. They can stack these babies ridiculously high.

Off-Site Kitchen: Holy bun heaven. We’re not sure what they’re making this perfectly toasted bread out of, but we want in. Try the “Do It Murph Style,” with roasted jalapeno, smoked bacon relish and secret sauce and you’ll never look back.
