Grange Hall gets its hands on Ted Muehling’s rarest treasure.

Ted Muehling’s rare, 24K goose egg vase is now at Grange Hall.

Inspired by Aesop’s fable “The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs,” jewelry designer Ted Muehling’s 24K gold-plated brass egg just might be as precious and hard to come by as the imaginary version. Only one is made at any given time, and they are often not available at any price, according to Muehling’s office. But leave it to Grange Hall’s Rajan Patel to score a rare one for Dallas. At 4.5 inches high and 3 inches wide, the luminous vase is goose-egg size, with a tiny opening that accommodates a single sprig. And it wouldn’t really matter how humble that sprig was (can you imagine a blade of grass against that golden hue?), anything would be made more dramatic sprouting from such a glorious vessel. So what’s the moral of this story? The famous fable warns us not to be greedy—but at $1,500, this is one golden egg you won’t want to simply covet from afar, but acquire in haste. 4445 Travis St., Suite 101, 214.443.0600
