For those wanting to enliven their yoga routines, try an innovative variation of the ancient discipline—aerial yoga. Taking cues from fitness trends in Los Angeles and New York, Samadhi Hawaii (330 Cook St., samadhihawaii.com) and the Still & Moving Center (1024 Queen St., 397.7678) began offering aerial yoga classes earlier this year, quickly attracting students willing to suspend themselves from low-hanging fabric threads and hammocks while performing poses. “The draw is that you’re able to build core strength with lightness,” says Jesa Simpkins, an instructor at Samadhi, which offers aerial classes multiple times a week. “It’s really fun and playful, and our students absolutely love it.”
