New Swan Shakespeare Festival is Orange County’s only professional Shakespeare festival performed outdoors in a sustainable, portable mini-Elizabethan theatre, the New Swan Theater, where the audience and actors inhabit the same dynamic, in-the-round space.

The season under the stars, will feature two dynamic productions of Shakespeare’s greatest works:

Romeo and Juliet, directed by Calvin MacLean
Shakespeare’s beloved tragic tale of star-crossed teenage lovers. What went wrong and who holds ultimate responsibility for this wild rush to death? Cal MacLean, Artistic Director of the Clarence Brown Theater in Tennessee, directs an action-based interpretation of this beloved classic.

Twelfth Night, directed by Eli Simon
The Bard’s sweeping romantic comedy that intermingles the pang of longing, the emotion of loves lost and found, and the sheer joy of mistaken identity, disguise, and trickery. Eli Simon, Artistic Director of New Swan Shakespeare Festival, sets the play in the early days of Hollywood talkies.
