Stan Frazier and his Sugar Ray bandmates are used to packing the house. But this time, the fans who filled the bar and dining rooms at A Restaurant in Newport were there to cheer on Frazier, who spent 12 weeks traveling the nation competing against more than a dozen trained chefs from this land and across the pond. We were all delighted to see him make the cut week after week, and thrilled when he made it to the finals. But the grand finale brought the house down when Frazier—an amateur chef, no less—was named the winner of the $100,000 prize and unlimited bragging rights.
