Aliso Viejo-based photographer Alain Peeri climbed into the back of a Lincoln Navigator and, with the rear door open and the vehicle in motion at 50 mph, began snapping away at the collection of Cobras, Daytonas, Corvettes and GT40s following behind.

It was the final day that Hillbank Motor Sports would be displaying its Superformance and Shelby cars at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, and Peeri arrived right around noon (“the worst light ever for shooting,” he says). Most of the models were already gone, but that ended up working in his favor. The parking lot and the track were almost empty. “This was the best time we could imagine to do a shoot, except for the sunlight.” And his improvisation paid off; he couldn’t be happier with the final shot. “The cars are amazing. There is a certain sense of speed in the picture, and you can feel the heat of the day,” he says. “Having that nice car family all in one photo was absolutely awesome.”
