Best of the Bay 2014
San Francisco magazine | Photo: Brittany McLaren | June 19, 2014
All of year's finest food, recreation, fun, arts, style, and mini-superheroes in one place.
It's a rapper! It's a snowkite! It's a mocktail! Actually, it's all of the above. Yes, it's our annual guide to the good life Bay Area-style. This past year has seen a bumper crop of Best-worthy new ideas, inventions, trends, and obsessions. We even have a new icon: Batkid, whose heroic tale os sickness, recovery, and Internet-enabled global fame seemed suitably superlative to front this issue. Similarly epic is our exploration of the region's goods and services, ranging from putt-putt palaces to turntable Mozarts to savory porridges to sex reading series, some of which you've been long yearning for, some that you didn't know you wanted. No need to thank us—it's just part of the job.
