Beyond Guinness

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, complete with floats and Irish dance troupes, tromps forward this Saturday. But maybe you'd prefer a stronger cup ‘o brew? We have you covered.

Kick off the weekend this Friday with a Blood and Shamrock or an Irish Margarita, and a corned beef appetizer, at RN74.

Fifth Floor will also be serving up some tasty libations. Try the Blarney Stone, the Darby Punch, or maybe a flight of Irish whiskey. “Ground” your whiskey tasting with a scoop of Guinness ice cream.

The Royal Exchange's Street Party is not to be missed. Hurry on over after work on Friday to enjoy beer from Royal’s Express Window and a performance by Wonderbread 5.

Pub crawlers stumble down to the Marina for “The Original” St. Patrick’s Day Marina Bar Crawl. Start your afternoon at KT’s and venture your way around favorite Marina watering holes. There will be performances by the SF Gem Dancers, a bagpiper, and even a float. Keep the spirit alive at Eastside West’s after-party featuring DJ Traviswild.

Financial District favorite The Irish Bank will be hosting a block party on Saturday and Sunday featuring traditional Irish and Celtic music. If the weather’s nice, you can take it outside to the patio.

Another favorite is Taverna Aventine’s alley party, which will have live music, food trucks, and five different bars. For those of you with a sweet tooth, the Crème Brule Cart will be there, too.

The St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Street Bash at the Soma Streatfood Park is a two-day festival with happy-hour prices on Guinness, Harp, and Black and Tans, plus live bands and numerous food-truck specials. Between courses, you can try your hand at skeeball. Enjoy the day here for $10 at the door or get an advance- purchase 2-day pass for $5.

Jasper’s Corner Tap & Kitchen will be serving Irish favorites like Irish lamb pasty and corned beef and cabbage, and a handful of themed cocktails. Try the Velvet 75, a combination of gin, Guinness, and sparkling wine.
