Five can’t-miss events to celebrate the Golden Gate

Our favorite suspension bridge is reaching its 75th anniversary this Sunday, and we can’t help but celebrate all over the city. Here are five ways to join in the festivities. 

1. The Golden Gate Festival
Check out the free all-day festival with educational and cultural activities at Fort Point, Crissy Field, the Presidio and Marina Green. Don’t miss out on the fireworks spectacle—grab a spot on the Fort Point waterfront for the best view. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m., more information here

2. Cavallo Point Terrace Party
Savor a barbecue buffet by Murray Circle’s chef Justin Everett and live music by the Peter Meredeth Trio on Callippe Terrace in Sausalito. Cavallo Point Lodge, 601 Murray Circle, 6-10 p.m., $75, get tickets here

3. Pier 39 Golden Gate Bridge-era Music and Dance Festival
Stop by the Wharf on Saturday and Sunday from a 1930s throwback dance party. Prepare for some early Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Pier 39, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 11am-10pm, More information here

4. The Bridge Story at Ghirardelli Square
Satisfy your craving for chocolate and history with this exhibition of panels telling the Bridge story.—The first 750 guests on Saturday will receive a free four-foot long Ghriardelli chocolate replica of the Golden Gate. 5.The Bridge on the Big Screen
For those of you skipping town for the weekend, the Presidio Trust and the Walt Disney Family Museum present an ongoing film festival through the summer featuring the Golden Gate Bridge, including Vertigo, Star Trek, and Superman.
