Just in time for holidays shopping, new stuff in stores this month from Hermès, Alex & Lee, and Timbuk2.
Hermès launches a “ski” collection (the quotes are ours) for those more interested in the après-ski experience than the slopes (from $920 at Hermès, 125 Grant Ave., near Geary St., 415-391- 7200). The unabashedly luxurious line includes a mink ear-warmer, oiled-calfskin boots, and lambskin gloves.
Statement-jewelry designers Alex & Lee have introduced a new scarf collection ($250 at Cavalier Goods, 1035 Post St., near Larkin St., 415-440-7300), available in pure silk or modal wool. The vibrant, rorschach-like designs recall exotic landscapes and lend a splash of color to drab winter wardrobes.
Shawn Corey Carter—aka Jay-Z—collaborates with runway designers on a holiday collection (at Barneys New York, 77 O’Farrell St., AT Stockton St., 415-268- 3500), featuring gifts like a Stutterheim raincoat, an 18-karat-gold Hoorsenbuhs ring, and a cashmere blanket by the Elder Statesman.
Timbuk2’s waterproof nylon bags are known for being sturdy, not stylish. But the local brand is courting grown-ups—and competing with Alite’s bike to beach bag—with its new leather and waxed canvas Distilled collection (from $189 at Timbuk2, 506 Hayes St., Near Octavia St., 415-252-9860).
