How to Prepare for a Prince Show

The DNA Lounge gets ready for anything and everything with a megastar coming to town.

The man-turned-symbol-turned-man-again is back at the DNA Lounge for four performances over two nights. And with over 80 million records sold the world over, a Super Bowl performance under his belt, and 25 headlining tours, Prince is a big act for a small venue to handle. We drilled DNA Lounge’s general manager, Barry Synoground, on how prepared they are.

The DNA Lounge's main room is about 3,000 square feet. Prince has sold over 80 million records. At an 80 million to 3,000 ratio, he may literally blow the roof off the place. What safety precautions are being taken?
We put a new roof on a few years ago, so we're definitely ready. But if the place collapses he'll just keep playing. It'll be him, standing on the rubble, playing his guitar through Sunday.

Prince maintains his youthful vigor by absorbing the adoration or his legions of fans. Can the DNA Lounge host a large enough crowd to sustain him?
Not at one time, which is why he's doing two show a night for two days. After that he'll be strong enough to move on to the next city.

What if he writes his name in flaming twelve foot letters across the sky? How will we offset the carbon emissions?
Purple solar panels. Can Paisley Park be run on purple panels? There's some awesome alliteration happening there.

The stage might refuse to let anyone play on it ever again after this. Will you have to build a new one?
We have definitely had the stage want to refuse after we've had epic artists, but we've learned how to whip it back into shape—Trannyshack is good for subduing that diva stage.

What assurance can you offer us that this is not all just some dream?
You read it on the Internet, so it must be true. Right?

Prince plays the sold-out DNA Lounge April 23-24.
