Mission Fire Grows to Five Alarms

Updates on the breaking story.

A blaze on Mission Street between 23rd and 24th has grown to a five-alarm fire. The San Francisco Fire Department is on the scene battling it.

Reports of the fire began around 1:10 this afternoon. Reports indicate the fire broke out at a discount retail store. No injuries have been reported, but Muni lines are being rerouted and the area has been cordoned off. Early in the afternoon, firefighters took up defensive positions around the flames. Smoke is blanketing the Mission District, and is visible from around the city.

Both the Chron and ABC7 have a live feed of the fire.

Update: According to NBC Bay Area, SF Fire Department spokesperson Mindy Talmadge said that one civilian and one firefighter had been treated for minor smoke inhalation.
