Tell your work you're going to be sick tomorrow.
Some holidays we aren't so sure about. What the heck is Arbor Day? Do we really need to celebrate Flag Day? But today is something different. Something special. It is National Tequila Day. Yes—it is a real thing that we did not just make up. Don't belive us? Just check out these places to celebrate tonight. (And don't forget tomorrow's holiday: National Aspirin and Orange Juice Day.
Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant
When a restaurant can brag that it is the “Ambassador of Tequila to the US” then you know they must make a damn good margarita. Opened in 1965, Tommy’s offers an array of 100% agave tequila that is best sipped from a classic margarita.

This Mexican pick is an ideal starter for Tequila Day debauchery. The tucked away SoMa spot hardly gets the attention it deserves, but that’s probably why we like it so much…and can always find a seat. Authentic Mexican street food and a vast selection of tequila based cocktails are never a bad start and the atmosphere will keep you ordering a round two…or three, or four.

Mosto Tequila and Botanas Bar
Named one of the 21 best tequila bars north of the border, Mosto offers the largest tequila selection in the city. With over 300 tequilas, best experienced via a tequila flight, this Mission venture will offer an educating and inebriated Tequila Day celebration.
741 Valencia St. (near 19th St.)
Tropisueno is a colorful and lively spot to begin Tequila day boozing. Plan your next tequila stop while sipping on a tequila concoction from the cantina amd indulging in fried plantains, all in a tropical setting., surrounded by palm trees and brightly painted walls.
75 Yerba Buena Lane (near Mission St.)
Tres Tequila Lounge
What better way to enjoy tequila day then with a tasting? Tres is hosting a Dulce Vida tequila tasting tonight at 7:00 that includes dinner, drinks and entertainment for $55. With a spacious eating and drinking area and an expansive tequila selection, Tres is a one stop hit for tequila indulgence and meal.
130 Townsend St. (at Collin P. Kelly Jr. St.)
If they don't hook you with their name or their store front signage, “Edibles and Elixers”, they will definitely get you with their pitchers of margaritas enjoyed under the ambient red glow of the interior lighting. The moody interior is perfectly balanced by the openly warm and friendly servers who efficiently keep the tequila (and Mexican fare) coming.
