Sure Shots: Three to Hoist Now

Bieler Père et Fils 2011 Rosé ($10)
Just because it’s pink and cold doesn’t mean it’s well made. Follow this rule of thumb: Rosés should be faintly salmon colored, bone dry, complex, and from the south of France. This delicious quaffer satisfies all those criteria—and it’s a steal.

Tap 357 Maple Rye Whiskey ($32)
Malt purists may scoff, but there’s a place for slightly sweetened whiskeys, and this is one of the best. For those torn between whiskey and a cordial after dinner—or those who like to drink at breakfast—the flavors of maple syrup and whiskey blend affably, and the balance is pitch-perfect, just barely off-dry.

Magnolia Brewery Growlers ($26)
Freshness is a criminally underrated factor in beer quality. Screw the “born-on” dates you see on cans: Go straight to a honking 2-liter growler of local brew filled within days of purchase. Using a rotation of its excellent brews, Magnolia Brewery refills and reseals reusable growlers. Price includes a $5 bottle deposit.
