The Annual Brazilian Carnaval takes place this weekend

You might not have heard it yet, but it's going to rain soon, with up to two inches expected for tomorrow and Saturday. So, just like when you were in third grade and recess was moved indoors, this weekend you'll have to do a little adaptation. Not to fear, though, there's plenty of amazing stuff to do.

Here are our six favorites:

Dark Universe NightLife
What: An exploration of the unknown corners of the universe. Complete with a deep-space focused planatarium, live music from ICEE Hot DJs, and multiple lectures on topics like dark matter, dark energy, and possible unknown life forms.
Where: California Academy of Sciences, 55 Music Concourse Drive
When: Thursday, 6-10 pm
Cost: $12 ($10 for Academy members)
Why: Get in touch with your inner Carl Sagan. The sky calls to us. A glorious dawn awaits.

FunCheap & NoisePop's Great San Francisco Skeeball Rolldown Throwdown

Why: Because you are what you eat. Don't you want to know more about yourself?

NoisePop's Scene Unseen III
What: Free party featuring various blends of synth pop, hip-hop, and off-kilter dance music
Where: 1015 Folsom

Annual Brazilian Carnaval Ball
What: The biggest Brazilian Carnaval celebration in the Bay Area. Live music, dancing, costumes, the works.
Where: Roccapulco, 3140 Mission St.
When: Saturday, 8:30 pm - 2 am
Cost: $30
Why: Of the handful of Brazilian Carnaval events in the Bay, this one gets the biggest turnout.

2014 Oscar Party at Balboa Theatre
What: A dress-up (or down) event that celebrates the Oscars with a live broadcast on the big screen
Where: Balboa Theatre, 3630 Balboa Street
When: Sunday, Red Carpet at 2:30 pm, show goes from 4-9 pm
