Three local shows by local bands

This week is jammed packed with local acts. Get your fix with these S.F. indie favs.

Thee Oh Sees The psychedelic garage band is known for their wild live shows. With not one by two album releases within the calendar year—Castlemania in June and Carrion Crawler/The Dream in November)—they’ll no doubt have a wild show. Wednesday, 5/16, $12, 8 p.m., Brick and Mortar Music Hall, 1710 Mission St., get tickets here

Sleepy Sun Having recently released their third album, Spine Hits, this San Francisco-based band has grown happily into its sound. With crisp guitar riffs and steady percussion, they’ve managed to achieve classic rock music that feels fresh. Friday, 5/18, $13, 9 p.m., the Independent, 628 Divisadero Ave., get tickets here

The Brothers Comatose A bluegrass quintet based out of San Francisco? Believe it, and they’re actually quite good. With twangy harmonies reminiscent of the Avett Brothers and of course, banjo-picking to boot, the band is celebrating their sophomore effort with an album release party this Saturday. Saturday, 5/19, $15, 9 p.m., Great American Music Hall, 859 O'Farrell st., get tickets here
