A first look at plans for the stadium, to be opened in 2018.
After the Warriors scrapped their plans to build a basketball stadium on the City's Embarcadero—predicting correctly the passage of Proposition B—the team inked a deal with Salesforce to build the project on nearby Mission Bay. But, until now, details had been scarce about what the new arena and development project would look like.
Last night, at a meeting of the Mission Bay Citizens Advisory Committee, Warriors execs outlined the project. The Examiner has a great writeup, but here are some of the most important details: The 18,000 seat arena will be 135 feet at its tallest point, and flanked by two 160-foot tall office towers, which will include 55,000 to 95,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. There will also be a plaza with Bay views. Below the site will be a 700-car garage.
More detailed architectural renderings are due in the fall.
