The films, food, and music that San Francisco staffers are geeking out about this week.
Ellen Cushing, Senior Editor: "If you prefer your kitty calendars locally sourced (AS YOU SHOULD), scoot on over to this Kickstarter, where Adam Myatt, the self-proclaimed "Cat Man of West Oakland" is accepting donations for a 2014 "Hoodcats" wall calendar."
Katherine Guzman, Editorial Intern: "White Truffles... 'Tis the season and I just had some last night at SPQR. Tues-Thurs they offer a special pasta tasting menu ($54 for four courses) and for $34 more, you can get an extra pasta course specially designed to complement the freshly shaved, white truffles that adorn it. It's definitely one of the best-value ways of enjoying freshly, shaved truffles! As if the pasta wasn't amazing on it's own... Trufflesssssssssss!!!!"
Scott Lucas, Web Editor: "I'm excited for the SF Films Society's French Cinema Now festival, which starts tomorrow. In particular, I want to see 2 Autumns, 3 Winters, which has been called a sort of Francophone version of Wes Anderson movie."
Caleb Pershan, Editorial Fellow: "A personal favorite name in music, Dr. Dog, is pairing with a similarly excellent (and canine) name in beer, Flying Dog Brewery, which is also based in Maryland. Flying Dog is offering a 7-inch flexi-disc record of Dr. Dog’s latest single “Distant Light” in its Shock and Awe variety packs. It's like getting a toy in your cereal, but for big kids."
Jenna Scatena, Associate Editor: "The organic pumpkin fro yo at Parlor 1255. It's self serve and you can add cookie chunks at the topping bar to make the perfect deconstructed fall fro yo sandwich."
