San Francisco staffers on the food, music, movies, and more they are geeking out about.
Ellen Cushing, Senior Editor: HELLO, THE MEAT PLATE AT LOLINDA WHY DIDN'T I KNOW ABOUT THIS BEFORE. Easily enough chorizo, flap loin, short rib, blood sausage, peppers, and potatoes for two people, laid out in all their bloody, meaty glory. My only regret is that it took me 25 whole years to come across something I loved so completely and unconditionally.
Katherine Guzman, Editorial Intern: Hanson is back on tour—yes, Hanson! I'm currently obsessed with their new album, Anthem, released in June, and I'm going to two (out of three) of their California tour dates down in SoCal!
Scott Lucas, Web Editor: Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich's documentary, Inequality for All opens in Berkeley and San Francisco on Friday. It's about how toxic income inequality is in America. I saw an advance copy, and just spoke with Reich and the film's director, Jacob Kornbluth. It's informative and infuriating, sure, but it's also entertaining as well. It's like taking an econ seminar from the best professor in school.
George McIntire, Editorial Intern: I'm head over heels for this cover of Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home" by ASTR.
Caleb Pershan, Editorial Fellow: The Hog's Apothecary is going whole hog, with 38 taps (mostly brewery direct) and a team led by Bradford Earle, John Streit, and Sayre Piotrkowski. Try a wet-hopped ale for funky flavors, and dig into sausages and bar snacks. They officially open today, but I've already been enough times during their soft opening to know the place is going to be a Temescal obsession.
