Wine comes to Little Vine

Tucked into a shoebox-size space on Grant Avenue, Little Vine operates as something of a shrine to artisan food producers. Its shelves are filled with hyperlocal products like Emmy’s pickles, Dandelion Chocolate, and Heslet Honey harvested just a few blocks away on Telegraph Hill. There are also a few favorites from further afield, like the salumi from Portland’s Olympic Provisions. Now, the shop is stocked with wine as well. Co-owner Jay Esopenko, who worked as a sommelier in Vancouver and a wine buyer for California Wine Merchant, has brought in 75 small-production wines, most from Northern California, with a few bottles from France, Italy, Spain, and New Zealand. Should all this deliciousness put you in the mood for a picnic, Little Vine rents baskets that the staff will help you fill with the fixings for an impromptu lunch. 1541 Grant Ave., S.F., 415-738-2221
