Following the sunset on an early fall evening, SCAD’s School of Building Arts recognized its undergraduate and graduate interior design programs and a top ranking by DesignIntelligence, a bimonthly architecture and design-focused report.

A crowd of SCAD students, faculty and staff, along with a handful of industry professionals, gathered on the rooftop terrace, celebrating the school’s notable achievements and enjoying the focal point of the evening: an 18-by-21-foot balloon sculpture created by SCAD alum Jason Hackenwerth. “The installation was up one day and down the next, and I’m naturally drawn to subjects of such ephemeral nature,” says Adam Kuehl, the man behind the lens. Kuehl captured the shot at twilight, achieving a perfect balance of ambient and available light. “I think everyone was energized by the installation and the weather,” he adds. “It was one of the first nights that felt like fall.”
