Artist Ai Weiwei was honored with the International Artist Award at Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s 22nd annual Recognition Dinner.
THE PARTY The newly renovated Hotel Jerome patio was the setting for cocktail hour, with an outdoor bar and photo backdrop. Guests were given balloon art, made to look like Ai Weiwei, from Robert Moy of Brooklyn Balloon Company. The award ceremony was held in the hotel’s ballroom, and Luftwerk design group transformed the walls with a light installation that changed from violet to red to green. THE GUESTS Sue Hostetler, Katie Stout, Trevor Paglen THE HIGHLIGHTS Ai was the recipient of the International Artist Award, which is given to globally recognized artists who have significantly influenced contemporary art. He was accompanied by his wife and son, who live with him in Berlin. Artists Bunny and Charles Burson were honored with a Service to the Arts Award. Art buyers, collectors and enthusiasts participated in a high-energy live auction, the proceeds of which directly benefit the ranch’s educational programs.
