Collectors Evening was co-chaired by Michelle Crosland, Wendy Kopp, Stephanie Russell, and Lisa Cannon Taylor and kicked off with a cocktail hour where guests previewed proposed works for acquisition from the High’s curatorial departments. Guests then enjoyed dinner, curatorial presentations, and several rounds of voting that included a paddle raise. Collectors Evening supported the acquisition of three phenomenal new works for the High’s permanent collection. The acquired works are Atlanta artist Donald Locke’s painting “Conspiracy of Icons #1” (1991); “Minotaurus” (2015), an 8-foot tall cast bronze sculpture by South African artist Nandipha Mntambo; and a group of 24 quilts that represent the aesthetic legacy of early 20th-century African American quilters in the South.
