Inspired by the “Tailored for You” dess code, the bustier gown evokes Balmain’s signature blend of classic tailoring and modern, bold design, while incorporating a timeless tailoring essential: the ruler. Ortega paired her look with matching Christian Louboutin pumps, silver Hearts on Fire earrings and assorted silver rings.

Renowned playwright, actor and screenwriter Jeremy O. Harris graced the red carpet wearing a custom Balmain look. A member of the Met Gala Committee, Harris served as an essential influence on this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” His look, which pays homage to Black dandyism, is inspired by Black jockey James Winkfield and evokes the Belle Époque era with a sleek blue satin jacket and white grain de poudre trousers. He topped the look off with a cotton poplin shirt adorned with a lavallière bow and a formal plastron.

Singer, songwriter, rapper, producer and actress Janelle Monáe made a statement at this year’s Met Gala with a black, red and white pinstripe suit with extra-broad shoulders.
