Does ordering in help with date nights?
I think there is advanced planning and pressure that goes into setting up a date outside of the home. Schedules must align, you have to think ahead to what type of cuisine you’re craving, picking somewhere with great ambiance, timing, all of that. Not everyone is able to plan, particularly during busy holiday seasons. I think others can take advantage of cuffing season and ordering in because it’s way more intimate, way cozier, and more convenient.
Do you have any recommendations for impressing your date?
If you’re ordering in, it’s not necessarily about how high-end the restaurant is. It’s really about getting to know your partner. Ask your significant other questions so they know you care about the evening and their food preference, allergies, and what they’re craving at that given moment. What if they had steak a night or two ago and ordering from a steak restaurant is the last thing they’re craving?
What are some do’s and dont’s for ordering in?
Similar to impressing your date, it’s about listening and taking cues from your partner. If you’re ordering Italian and there’s a lot of garlic or onions and your partner orders a light salad, you might want to think again *laughs*. You don’t want to make yourself off limits from a kissing perspective.
How do you make ordering in special?
It’s all about setting the mood. Make it special by getting place settings and taking the food out of the delivery packaging and plate it. Choose your beverage of choice and make it a special evening.
Since it’s a Bumble partnership and ladies make the first move, do you let Amanda choose her order first?
Absolutely! Ladies first. It’s not only the courteous thing to do but you can take cues from what they’re ordering to base your own order.
What are your favorite things to order at home?
To continue ‘impressing your date and choosing what to order- since you’re not going to a physical restaurant, it’s less about impressing your date with the latest trendy spot and more about good quality food with household names that you trust. I would fall back on the list that Caviar and Bumble created because you know for a fact that they curated names that you can count on.
I love that I’m ordering from a restaurant that I’ve experienced firsthand, and I know what to expect like L’artusi. The fact that you can order in and get the same quality food at your convenience is a huge plus. Right now, reservations are hard to come by in New York and you can get all of these restaurants that you’re familiar with, consistent or spark a memory. Saint Ambrose was in the neighborhood where I met Amanda- I love that spot- the fact that I can order classics like Cipriani, Raos, or Minetta Tavern, is very exciting.
Whether you’ve dined at these places or not, you already know the quality of the restaurants which makes the whole process much more simple.
