Dearly Beloved

Grandmother Marion Cohen watching her grandson wed via Skype

When Atlanta-based groom Andrew Levin’s maternal grandmother, Marion Cohen, was unable to attend his June 16 wedding to Alix Larman at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, they knew they would find a way to have her there anyway. “It was important to Alix and Andrew that all of their family be included in the ceremony,” explains planner Laura Maddox of Magnolia Events and Planning. Watching via Skype by an iPad from her living room in Alexander City, Ala., Cohen watched the event unfold in real time. “Knowing that Andrew’s grandmother, Marion, was ‘sitting’ in the second row watching the ceremony warmed our hearts,” remembers Larman. “Andrew was especially touched to see his grandmother’s face on the screen as he watched me walk down the aisle,” she continues. “We were even told that Marion laughed while watching the adorable flower girls.”
