Bridal Sign Up

Jaime Lee & Matt Cheesebro

October 11, 2014 | Ceremony & reception: The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles

The bride found her ethereal Vera Wang Nisha gown at the Saks Bridal Salon in Beverly Hills. “I didn’t think I’d like it,” she says of the timeless strapless style fastened with simple bows in the back. “But the whole room fell apart when I tried it on.” Especially memorable was the embroidered floral lace train. “I’m still obsessed with it,” says Jaime.

The Hidden Garden created lavish romantic centerpieces of ivory and white calla lilies, roses, hydrangeas, orchids and tulips. Gold touches were added at the cocktail reception in the foyer, and black was introduced in the reception ballroom.

The exquisite dinner menu included organic greens topped with sliced pears and Roaring Forties blue cheese.

The couple created a specialty cocktail, the Luxardo cherry-topped Our Favorite Manhattan, in honor of the evening.

They met on an old-fashioned blind date—with a twist. “I was invited to a casual brunch,” says Jaime Lee, a real estate attorney. “Ten of our mutual friends were there, and it was very obvious we were being set up.” The bold matchmaking worked. Matt Cheesebro, an investment banker, proposed on a beach in Santa Monica four years later. “You’re not supposed to be on the sand after dark, and the sun had just set,” says Jaime. “So we were chased off the beach by a yellow patrol truck!”

Inspired by early downtown architecture, L.A. native Jaime chose a contemporary twist on classic Hollywood glamour for the ceremony and reception. A black-and-white palette with champagne and gold accents set the tone for an elegant, tailored affair. Having close friends and family involved was very important to the couple. Their good friend Mike performed the ceremony, while Jaime’s three brothers contributed poetry, music and a slideshow throughout the day.

“We were on the fence about having a videographer but decided to go for it, and we are so happy that we did,” says Jaime. “The day goes by so fast, so it’s crucial to have talented artists [that] capture everything for you.”

After a jaunt to Australia, the newlyweds relaxed in Fiji at the romantic couples-only Likuliku Lagoon Resort.
