Rites That Bind

Brittany Wright and Vivek Goswami have both been married twice—both times to each other on the same autumn day.

Their morning ceremony, held at St. Helena Catholic Church, was followed by a Hindu ceremony and reception at Calistoga Ranch. “From a photographic perspective, it means double the color, the beauty, the moments,” says photographer Julie Kay Kelly. On the eve of the nuptials, at an alfresco Indian rehearsal dinner, the couple and their guests had mehndi, or henna, decorations painted on their hands. Closer examination of the bride’s palms revealed the groom’s initials woven into the intricate design. “I couldn’t not take that shot,” Kelly says. “To see their hands together said everything—it was very powerful.” 415.302.6437,
